Fall's Embrace

The Maroon Bells are an icon of the Rockies. Many say that they are the most photographed peaks in the world, and now I understand why. Sure, they look great from Maroon Lake near the roadside trailhead, but not many folks who visit wander far into the trail where treasures are hidden.

We backpacked at the edge of the treeline and spent a night hammock camping in freezing temperatures. The campsite we selected was incredible; not only did it have amazing views, but it was well furnished as well! There was already a fire pit and fallen trunks which made good seats. We stayed up deep into the night to stargaze, and slept sounder than any night indoors.
